Laurentis supports Friendship Centres across Ontario for National Indigenous Peoples Day
In recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, Laurentis is proud to donate to Indigenous Friendship Centres across Ontario, helping to sustain their culturally based programs and services that are vital to strengthening communities and advancing well-being.
Through its Powering Reconciliation Fund, established last year as part of Laurentis’s first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), the company is dedicating a percentage of its annual charitable giving to Indigenous charities, Indigenous-owned philanthropic organizations, and Indigenous capacity-building organizations. These contributions are one of the ways that Laurentis is taking meaningful action to advance reconciliation.
“Our support for Indigenous-led, grassroots organizations like Friendship Centres reflects our commitment to fostering cultural, social, and economic well-being,” said Laura Van Soelen, Laurentis Interim President and CEO. “We’re honoured to play a small part in helping these centres continue their important work in the communities they serve.”
This year, through the Powering Reconciliation Fund, Laurentis is contributing to Friendship Centres in the Ontario communities where it operates:
- Hamilton Regional Indian Centre
- Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre
- Bawaajigewin Aboriginal Community Circle (Durham region)
- M'Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre (Bruce County)
These centres are trusted community hubs, offering vital services across health, housing, youth programs, justice, and community development – all delivered in a culturally respectful way.
This National Indigenous Peoples Day, and every day, Laurentis remains dedicated to building strong, respectful partnerships with Indigenous communities, businesses, and organizations. The company’s first Reconciliation Action Plan marks the beginning of a long-term journey to help create a better future for Indigenous Peoples and to drive positive change in the energy industry.
